Who’s in Your Foursome?

There’s something special about walking the course with good friends. The conversation, the encouragement, the way they help you shake off a bad shot or celebrate a great one—it makes the game better. And if we’re honest, life works the same way.

At Greenside Gospel, we believe the fairway is more than a place to play—it’s a place to grow. That’s why every week, we take a moment to reflect on how God’s Word speaks into our lives on and off the course.

This week, we’re talking about Proverbs 27:17:

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Think about your golf foursome. The people you regularly tee it up with. They can influence your game—helping you with your swing, challenging you to compete, or keeping the vibe positive. But they also influence your life—your mindset, your character, and even your walk with Christ.

The same is true spiritually. The people closest to you shape you more than you realize. They either push you closer to God or pull you further away. And the same goes for your influence on them.

So here’s the challenge this week:
Take inventory of your inner circle. Who’s in your spiritual foursome? Are they sharpening your faith? Are you sharpening theirs?

Ask God to show you where you might need to grow in community. Maybe it’s time to reach out to someone who challenges and encourages you. Maybe it’s time to be that person for someone else.

Because this is what Greenside Gospel is all about—walking the course of life together, growing in faith, and getting better with every step.

Thanks for being here. Let’s keep walking this fairway together.

Reflection Challenge

This week, take inventory of your inner circle—your “spiritual foursome.” Are the people closest to you sharpening your faith, or dulling it? Choose one intentional action: thank a friend who builds you up, or reach out to someone who can challenge and encourage you in your walk with Christ.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of community and for the people who walk alongside me. Show me where I need to grow, both in receiving sharpening and in offering it to others. Help me surround myself with those who point me toward You, and make me a friend who sharpens others in faith, love, and courage. Amen.
